A POWERFUL VOICE, A MUSICAL EMBASSY

Born in Mbigou, in the heart of the forests of southern Gabon, Tita Nzebi (Huguette Leckat) has become a key figure on the international scene. Since 2006, she has masterfully blended African rhythms with modern sounds, singing primarily in the Nzebi language to affirm a strong identity and a commitment to transmission.

Her journey has taken her from Gabon to India, from Canada to Germany, performing on prestigious stages such as Café de la Danse and 360 Paris Music Factory. Following the acclaimed album From Kolkata (2019) and her book Mè, je suis, Tita Nzebi returns with her artistic rigor fully intact. More than an artist, she is now a living heritage, carrying powerful messages about dignity, memory, and freedom, while remaining deeply rooted in her origins, which are both her source and her horizon.

REMINISCENCE: A JOURNEY INTO MEMORY AND HUMAN CONNECTIONS

Tita Nzebi’s new album, Reminiscence, is a work of great maturity, recorded in renowned Parisian studios (Grande Armée, Artistic Palace) and mixed at the legendary Real World Studios of Peter Gabriel by Patrick Phillips. This project explores the depths of the human experience, from spirituality to the complexity of social relationships.

The album stands out for its rich and refined instrumentation, where the zither of Seth Adiahénot Tetey on the title track blends with the guitars of Sec and Leny Bidens, alongside percussion from the Congo (Komba Mafwala, Jimmy Mbonda). Each track opens a door to deeper reflection:

• Transmission and responsibility: In “Etc.”, the artist highlights the importance of adults setting an example for younger generations.

• Maternal wisdom: “BA’ATE” (humans) draws on a metaphor from her mother, comparing people to calabashes that collide in the wind without ever breaking.

• Spiritual elevation: “NZEMBI” (God) offers a symphonic breath with violin and cello, presenting spirituality as a path toward inner peace.

• The duty of memory: With “31 AOÛT”, she evokes, with restraint and gravity, the silence that follows tragedy, anchoring her work in contemporary history.

Reminiscence is not just an album; it is a vibrant tribute to Gabonese identity presented through an international production lens. An authentic work that reminds us that while conflicts may be loud, they never break the deep bonds that unite us.
