A CAREER BUILT ON TRANSMISSION AND IDENTITY
Born in Mbigou, in southern Gabon, Tita Nzebi (born Huguette Leckat) has forged an artistic path that transcends musical boundaries to become a true mission of remembrance. Having moved to France in the late 1990s, she transformed her journey between two continents into a constant reflection on belonging and heritage. Her choice to sing in the Nzebi language is a powerful political and poetic act: a commitment to preserving intangible heritage while giving it universal resonance.
As an heir to African orality, she follows the tradition of artist-storytellers. Her successive projects reflect a continuous search for meaning: while Metiani laid the foundations of her universe, the album From Kolkata born from an experience in India expanded her horizons to an international scale, questioning the deep bonds that unite cultures across oceans.
A COMMITTED JOURNEY: FROM THE WRITTEN WORD TO "RÉMINISCENCE"
Tita Nzebi's career is marked by an insistence on sincerity that rejects commercial compromise. In 2020, she reached a major introspective milestone with the publication of Mè, je suis (Mè, I am), an autobiographical book exploring the family legacies that shaped her identity. This literary work strengthens the dimension of her current musical project, Réminiscence.
With Réminiscence, Tita Nzebi offers a work inhabited by the notion of collective responsibility and the need to reconnect with one's roots in a changing world. This project explores spirituality, resilience, and self-construction with a more direct and refined voice. Today, as an independent and accomplished artist, she embodies a generation of creators for whom music is a tool for social inquiry and a vehicle for human dignity. Her work places humanity and intercultural dialogue at the center, affirming that to create is, above all, to connect and to transmit.
